Entering Charges

In some cases, you may need to manually add charges to a patient in which there is no scheduled visit or completed P page. Use Charge Entry to enter new charges or a patient, or to view existing charges.

Expanded functionality enables users to quickly view documentation related to a particular charge both before and after the billing process is completed.

 

Before entering charges, follow the steps below to locate the patient:

1.    From the Main Menu, click Accounts and select Charge Entry.

2.    Enter any search criteria you may have, and click    to filter the patient list.

3.    Click on a patient in the patient list to open the Account Management Patient Charge Entry window.

 

The Patient Charge Entry window contains existing charges that have not been billed. To enter a new charge:

1.    Click  .

2.    Click the arrow beside the employee selection field, and select the Employee who performed the visit.

3.    Enter information about the service.

4.    Enter the following information at the bottom of the window:

     Total hours and the times (Begin/End) for specific services

     Number of miles and the Begin/End times in the Miles Out and Miles In fields. If necessary, click Calculate to view the hours/miles calculation.

5.    If the new service entry consists of any Negative Pressure Wound Therapy tasks, enter any applicable information in this section:

This section was implemented to coincide with the 2017 CMS mandate that requires negative pressure wound therapy services to be paid separate from the Home Health episodic payment. This section is available on the P Page and will synchronize with the corresponding records in Charge Entry. For more information on this functionality, refer to the 16.11.1 release guide.

     Enter the amount of Hours and/or Minutes for the service that was related to the placement/replacement of a dNPWT management collection system.

     Select the appropriate radio button:

6.    When you finish entering all the appropriate information, click  . You can now view the charges in the Charge Entry grid.

Enterprise Edition will automatically calculate the hours and miles.
