Discharging a Patient

To discharge a patient in Patients | Intake Referral:

1.    Select the appropriate patient name.

2.    Click the Discharge title bar on the Patient Management window.

3.    Enter the following information:

     Enter a date in the Discharge date field in the mm/dd/yyyy format, or click    and select the date from the calendar.

     Enter a time in the Discharge time field, or click    and use the Hour/Minute fields to enter a time.

     Click the arrow beside Location of discharge, and select the appropriate location.

     If the patient died, enter the expiration information.

     Click the arrow beside Discharge Status, and select the appropriate status.

     Enter any additional notes in the Discharge remarks field.

4.    Click  .

If the patient has any problems, goals, or interventions present (in Patients | Care Plan), the following message will display: "Unable to complete discharge - Care Plan still active." Users must then resolve all items in the active care plan before the patient can be discharged.

5.    In the Discontinue Orders & Cancel visits post Discharge dialog box, select one of the following options:

     Discharge Only

     Discontinue & Cancel

Enterprise Edition displays the discharge information under Discharge on the Patient Management window.
