Each agency has complete control over their own CAREpliance transition process by using the Care Plan checkbox (in Patients | Admission / Discharge | Admission). This checkbox is available in the patient chart regardless if Care Planning features are turned on or off for the agency (in Administration | System Control).
Agencies have the freedom to choose exactly when they are ready to begin using CAREpliance features for existing patients (using the Care Plan checkbox) and for any patients that are admitted in the future (by enabling Care Planning for the entire database).
CAREpliance features are enabled for patients based on whether or not care planning is turned on for the agency and if the Care Planning checkbox is selected in the patient chart:
● If Care Planning is set to “Off” in System Control:
o By default, care planning features are not turned on for existing patients.
o To enable care planning for an individual patient, select the Care Planning checkbox.
o If the Care Planning box is checked, the new Problems, Goals, and Interventions sections (See pages 33-36) will be available when a CAREpliance document is created and users will be able to access the Care Plan tab (See pages 24-31).
● If Care Planning is turned “On” in System Control:
o The Care Planning box will remain unselected for existing patients, though this box can be checked to enable care planning features for the corresponding patient.
o CAREpliance features will be enabled for all new patients that are created and the Care Planning box will be checked by default.
● When a user turns Care Planning off in System Control for new admissions (after it has been turned on), the following prompt will display to confirm the action: “Do you wish to turn off all patient care plans? “.
o Proceed by completing the appropriate action for existing patients:
o If Yes is selected, complete the process by unchecking the Care Planning box for any existing patients that are being managed with CAREpliance features.
o If No is selected, no further action is necessary.
