Admission/Discharge Status

HEALTHCAREfirst delivers pre-populated admission/discharge status codes in the reference files of your database. If you need to add, update, or delete a code, however, use the Admission/Discharge Status window in the Reference Files program.

To add a new admission/discharge status:

1. From the Main Menu, select Reference Files and click Admit / Dischg Status.

2. Click .

3. Enter the number for the new admission/discharge status in the Code field.

4. If this status is associated with a specific occurrence, enter the appropriate code in the Associated Occurrence Code field.

5. Enter a brief description of the admission/status in the Description field. Use the following format to enter a description:

● Begin with the code entered, followed by the description. (Example: 06 - Discharged/Transferred to another HHA)

6. Select the following check boxes to indicate the lines of business that will use the admission/discharge status:

● Hospice - Select this check box for any hospice admission/discharge status. When you select the Hospice check box, select the Associate to Bereavement check box if this status is also a bereavement status.

● Homecare - Select this check box for any homecare admission/discharge status. When you select the Homecare check box, select the Indicates Death check box if this status also indicates death.

7. Click .

1. In the Code or Description columns, select the appropriate admission/discharge status you want to update. To search for a specific status, enter a code number in the Code field or a description in the Description field, and click beside the appropriate field.

2. Update the Code, Associated Occurrence Code, or Description fields, and the Hospice, Homecare, Associate to Bereavement, or Indicates Death check boxes, as necessary.

3. Click .

To delete an existing admission/discharge status:

1. From the Main Menu, select Reference Files and click Admit/Dischg Status.

2. In the Code or Description columns, select the appropriate status you want to delete.

3. Click .

4. Click OK on the confirmation message.
