Use Election Period to specify the hospice election periods for the patient:
1. Above the Main Menu, click

2. Using the Patient Search and Patient Selection menu, select the desired patient.
3. From the Main Menu, select Patients.
4. Click Admission/Discharge on the Main Menu and then select Election Period.
5. Perform one of the following:
● If election periods already exist, select one in the election periods displayed in the grid.
● If you want to enter a new election period, click
.
6. In the Election Period section, select the applicable type of election period from the following options:
● Medicare Custom Election Period(s)
● Non Medicare Custom Election Period(s)
● Historical Custom Election Period(s)
7. Next, select the Period:
● First 90
● Second 90
● 60...

Selecting the Non Medicare Custom Election Period(s) will cause this section to be excluded. |
8. Enter dates in the Start Date and End Date fields in mm/dd/yyyy format.

If you select an election in the list and want to create a new one based on the one you selected then, by default, Enterprise Edition will populate the Start Date with the day after the End Date of the election period you selected. |
9. In the Verbal Start of Care section, using the drop-down menu, click the arrow beside Physician and select the physician you want to assign to this election period.

10. By default, the Verbal SOC Date contains the election period's Start Date. If necessary, you may change this date.
11. If you need a face-to-face document, enter the date in the F2F Date field in the Face to Face section.
12. If you need to enter a reason why the provided F2F Date may be missing, or outside of the normal expected range, select a F2F Exception option from the drop-down menu.
