When a Scheduled medication is not administered during the Administration Window, as defined in the Master Files, it becomes Late. The administration time will display in red and the word “Late” will appear before it, as shown below. Refer to Chapter 1, MAR Settings, Administration Window for further information on setting the Administration Window.
When Give is clicked for a Late medication, and Online Entry method is being used, you will be prompted to enter a reason(s) why the medication was late.
The reasons pull from those entered in the Reference Files | MAR Reason Codes, as shown above. Select a reason or enter Other Reason and click .
When Manual Entry method is being used the Administration time is defaulted to the schedule time of the medication. Until the actual Administration time is edited such that the Administration time in that field is outside of the administration window the Late/Early Medication Administration dialog will not appear.
You can change the Administration time on a late medication by clicking Change Administration Time in the Late/Early Medication Administration window and manually entering the appropriate administration time. The MAR History record will keep track of the original late administration time and what the time was changed to for auditing purposes.
