Though it may not be needed, users have the ability to search for MAR patients in the Patients area of the software. By using the MAR Only field located within the Patient Search menu, users can view all active MAR patients (that also fit any other search criteria that is selected). The MAR Only search feature also provides users with an enhanced workflow when administering medications to MAR patients. When used with the existing Caseload feature, users can view the specific MAR patients that are assigned to them during a shift instead of searching for each individual patient.
As a clinician in an in-patient unit often moves from room to room throughout their shift and administers medications, the MAR Only feature increases ease of use for entering data in the software by greatly reducing the number of clicks previously required to search for a patient, open the patient chart, navigate to Patients | MAR | MAR Administration tab, document medication administration times, and then search for the next patient.
When using the MAR Only search feature, users can simply select a Mar patient from the search results, click the MAR icon to the top-right (
), enter the patient’s Medication Administration information, and then easily select the next MAR patient from the list of patients displayed on the left. By creating a smoother workflow, this feature lowers the risk of missing a patient’s medication administration and allows clinicians to focus more on patient care.
