Searching for Surgical Codes from the Crosswalk

Integrated within the crosswalk functionality on the Surgical Codes screen is a section that allows users to simply search for ICD-9 or ICD-10 codes based on a description or code entered.

Searching for ICD-9 Surgical Codes

1.    From the Surgical Codes screen, click New.

2.    Enter the desired criteria to search for using either the ICD9 or Description search field then click the Search Icon (magnifying glass). The sample image below shows a search based on criteria entered in the ICD9 search field.

By default, the "crosswalk procedure codes" function is set to "on". Having this box checked allows for the functionality of searching ICD-10 codes to match ICD-9 codes and vice versa. Users can choose whether search results will crosswalk the corresponding ICD-10 codes by ensuring the box next to Crosswalk procedure codes is left checked.

3.    Select the appropriate ICD-9 code from the list of search results.

4.    Users can then choose one of the following options:

a.    Simply click Save without selecting a corresponding ICD-10 code to match it with.

b.    Select the most applicable ICD-10 code to match it with, using the search grid to the right, then click Save.

5.    After all procedure codes have been crosswalked for the selected patient, continue with Selecting Patient Medications.
