Using MAR (Medication Administration Record)

The Medication Administration Record (MAR) is available in firstHOSPICE as a way to schedule and record medication administration. It is intended to be used by hospice agencies with inpatient care facilities, but is not limited to this use.

 

Before your employees use MAR, ensure the following steps are complete:

1.    The MAR must be activated by a HEALTHCAREfirst representative. Once activated, you will see MAR set to On in Administration | System Control in the Hospice section.

2.    Review the following security objects available for MAR functionality and assign security rights to personnel as necessary:

     MAR:AdministrationHistory

     MAR:Administrator

     MAR:Medication Administration

     MAR:Medication Scheduling

     MAR:MedSchedulingDischarge

3.    Review the following available alerts for MAR and activate them as necessary:

     190 - Patient Medication is missing Quantity and/or Frequency

     191 - Patient Medication is missing a MAR Schedule

     192 - Patient Medication is OVERDUE

     193 - MAR Schedule not Terminated on Patient Discharge

     194 - Agency is missing a MAR Profile

When a patient has a hospice admission with the MAR Active check box selected, the MAR menu button will display under Patients in the main menu bar on the left.  

 

The MAR menu contains four options:

    Patient Medications

     MAR Schedule

     Medication Admin

     Admin History
